Authorities have arrested six suspects believed to be behind a spate of violent robberies that have rocked Kajiado and surrounding areas. The suspects are linked to a deadly raid earlier this month that left a watchman dead and several missionary camps targeted.
According to investigators, the gang, often disguising themselves in police jungle fatigues and armed with crude weapons, has carried out coordinated attacks in Elerai, Kimana, Mashuru, and Wote. One of the most brutal incidents occurred on August 8, 2025, when the group stormed the Korean Mission Camp in Mashuuru Sub-County, killing a security guard and making away with valuables.
The crackdown on the gang began on August 19, 2025, leading to the arrest of two prime suspects. One was captured in Kitengela, while another was intercepted near Machakos Junction. A subsequent search at a suspect’s home in Kitulu village, Machakos County, uncovered police uniforms believed to have been used in the robberies, alongside Ksh49,000 in cash. Authorities revealed that the two men had recently been released from prison in December 2024, raising concerns about repeat criminal activity.
The operation then expanded to Kantafu in Matungulu Sub-County, where four more suspects were apprehended. They were identified as part of the wider criminal network. During the operation, detectives also seized three vehicles thought to have been used to facilitate the robberies. The six suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue, with plans to arraign them in court once the probe is complete.
The arrests have brought relief to residents of Kajiado and neighboring counties who have been living in fear of night-time raids. Security agencies have reassured the public that intensified patrols and intelligence-led crackdowns will continue in a bid to dismantle organized criminal groups in the region.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Mombasa, police officers nabbed two suspected gang members during a late-night patrol in Kisauni. Acting on a tip-off from concerned residents, officers responded swiftly and arrested the duo, who were found in possession of pangas. They are believed to be part of a group of armed young men that has been terrorizing locals. The suspects remain in custody awaiting further processing and arraignment.
These back-to-back arrests highlight ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb violent crime and restore security in both rural and urban communities.
