The body of a 21-year-old South Sudanese man was discovered floating in Lake Nakuru, sparking an investigation into his death. The man, identified as Mach Mayen Anyieth, had been missing for several days before his body was found near the Nyuki area. His family, along with police and Kenya Wildlife Service personnel, had been searching for him before the body was recovered.
Upon discovery, the body was already decomposing, and investigators noted a visible injury at the back of his head. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and authorities have opened a murder probe to determine how he met his untimely end.
In a separate incident, the body of Hellen Amukope, 38, was found in her home in Sikoreria village, Trans Nzoia County. Preliminary investigations suggest that Amukope’s husband assaulted her with a hammer and subsequently stabbed her in the buttocks. The attack reportedly occurred in the couple’s home, and the assailant fled the scene before police arrived. The body was removed to the mortuary, and a manhunt for the suspect is currently underway.
Additionally, a domestic dispute turned deadly in Magunga, Suba South, where Esther Achieng, 28, was killed by her brother-in-law. The murder reportedly occurred after the deceased was accused of stealing money from the suspect. The man allegedly used a club to strike her. Police have arrested the assailant and are continuing the investigation.
In Nyamira, another tragic incident unfolded when Duncan Odhiambo, 30, died in hospital after being attacked by unknown assailants. The attack, which occurred in the Bugo area on September 13, left Odhiambo with serious neck and face injuries. He was initially treated at a private clinic, but his condition worsened over time, and he passed away on September 30. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
