A 23-year-old man has died following a fatal stabbing during a domestic altercation with his girlfriend at their rented house in Kware, Nairobi. According to police, Raphael Mutusi sustained serious stomach injuries in the incident that occurred on August 9. He was rushed to a private hospital where he fought for his life for two days before succumbing to the wounds on Monday, August 11.
Authorities said that Mutusi’s girlfriend had visited him in the hospital during his treatment. However, she disappeared after learning of his death, prompting police to launch a manhunt. Nairobi police boss George Seda confirmed that investigators are seeking the woman for questioning as part of the ongoing probe. The body of the deceased was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy to help determine further details surrounding his death.
In a separate case in Marereni, Kilifi County, a woman who had been reported missing was found dead in a thicket near her home. The victim, identified as Kanze Karisa, had disappeared on August 9. Her body was discovered on August 11, about 200 meters from her house. Police reports indicated that she had visible bruises on her thigh and back, and it is suspected she was killed at the scene where the body was found. The motive for the killing remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing. Karisa’s body was moved to the mortuary pending postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Meanwhile, in Thika, police are investigating the murder of an unidentified man whose decomposing body was found near a railway line in the UTI area. The discovery was made on August 11 by a railway station worker who was patrolling the area. The man, estimated to be around 60 years old, was found in a thicket without any identification documents. Police reported no visible signs of struggle at the scene, raising questions about how he died and whether he was killed elsewhere before being dumped in the area.
The body was transferred to the mortuary as police await identification through official processes. Authorities say that the motive behind the killing is still unknown, and the investigation will also focus on tracing the victim’s relatives.
Police have raised concerns about the growing number of murder cases across the country. The recent spate of killings, many involving domestic disputes or unexplained circumstances, has highlighted the urgent need for enhanced investigations and community vigilance to help curb the trend.
