Two suspects have been detained for the sexual assault, gang rape, and robbery of a 40-year-old man after a disturbing incident in Kibera. The suspects, Cleff Juma Mbaka and Mursal Kafe Masur, were ordered by the Kibera Law Court to remain in custody at Industrial Area Remand Prison until their pre-trial hearing, scheduled for October 30, 2025.
The incident began on October 1, 2025, when the victim, a man from Narok County, boarded a matatu to Nairobi with plans to visit a friend in Kibera. After arriving at the Makina Stage around 9 p.m., he called his friend for directions. The friend suggested he hand his phone to a boda boda rider who could guide him to the location. The rider agreed to take the victim for Ksh.150, and shortly after, another man joined the ride, claiming to be heading in the same direction.
However, just minutes into the ride, the motorbike abruptly stopped in Mashimoni. The rider claimed to have run out of fuel, and the situation quickly escalated when the second man grabbed the victim in a chokehold. The victim was then violently attacked and robbed, with the suspects taking his phone, Ksh.6,000 in cash, and personal identification documents. They also forced him to reveal his phone password and made him swallow both his Airtel and Safaricom SIM cards, attempting to destroy evidence.
The victim was left unconscious after the suspects covered his mouth and nose. The assailants then allegedly transported him to Lang’ata cemetery, where they abandoned him. The victim regained consciousness the following day, disoriented and naked, except for his socks. He was in severe pain and discovered a foreign object lodged in his rectum, which had been inserted during the assault. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to Nairobi Women’s Hospital for further treatment, where he was diagnosed with an infection and underwent surgery to remove the object.
The suspects remain in detention, and the pre-trial hearing is scheduled for October 30, 2025, where they will face charges for their horrific actions.
