A 16-year-old boy from Nyakiambi area in Molo, Nakuru County, has confessed to killing his mother after a heated disagreement over the identity of his biological father.
The tragic incident unfolded inside their residential home, where the boy reported to be a Form Three school dropout confronted his mother demanding answers about his paternity. According to police accounts, the confrontation escalated when the mother refused to reveal the identity of the boy’s biological father.
In a fit of rage, the teenager is said to have repeatedly struck his mother on the head, leading to her instant death. The horrifying act is believed to have occurred on Friday afternoon around 1:00 PM.
What followed was a calculated attempt to conceal the crime. On Saturday, the minor allegedly dug a shallow grave within an unused structure located within the same compound. Authorities believe the boy intended to secretly bury his mother’s body on Sunday morning before being discovered.
The crime came to light when the woman’s brother visited the home and found the body. He immediately alerted the police, prompting officers from Elburgon Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Molo to rush to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the lifeless body of the woman, bearing signs of a brutal attack.
The boy was arrested shortly thereafter and is now in police custody. Investigators noted that he openly confessed to committing the crime during initial questioning. The motive, according to early investigations, revolves around long-standing frustration and anger over not knowing his real father a secret his mother allegedly refused to share.
The body of the deceased has since been moved to the Elburgon Level IV Hospital morgue, where it awaits a postmortem examination. Police are continuing with investigations to establish further details and determine whether the minor acted alone or if there was any external influence.
This chilling incident has left residents of Nyakiambi in shock, with many questioning what may have driven a teenager to such an extreme act. Authorities have urged parents and guardians to seek counseling services and open lines of communication with their children to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
