Three individuals believed to be behind a violent robbery at an industrial facility in Athi River have been arrested following an intensive investigation. The suspects are linked to an incident that occurred on February 23, 2025, at Sanergy Limited Company located within the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Kinanie, Athi River.
The arrests mark the culmination of a coordinated police operation aimed at bringing to justice a gang accused of robbing the facility. The suspects, identified only by their aliases Kevoo, Tush, and Jack, were tracked down through detailed investigative work. The authorities allege that the three, along with two accomplices still at large, were involved in the robbery that unfolded with ruthless precision.
According to reports, the gang, armed with crude weapons, stormed the premises and overpowered workers on duty. The robbers are said to have rounded up the employees, subjected them to physical assault, and held them hostage while executing the heist. The victims were left bound and bruised, unable to resist or call for help, as the attackers made away with several valuable items.
Among the stolen property were a refrigerator, a microwave, two lorry batteries, two backloader tractor batteries, and a generator. These items were quickly loaded onto a waiting pickup truck, which the gang used to escape the scene undetected. The brazen nature of the robbery, combined with the violence inflicted on the employees, triggered a high-priority investigation by law enforcement.
Detectives launched a comprehensive manhunt immediately after the incident. Using forensic evidence, surveillance analysis, and informant leads, the officers traced the ringleader, known as Kevoo, to a rented house in Kamulu. Upon searching the premises, authorities recovered a Beretta pistol, a mobile phone, multiple SIM cards, tactical clothing, and other items believed to have been used in the crime or connected to it.
Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly cooperated with investigators and provided crucial information that led to the capture of the remaining two suspects. The second and third gang members were arrested in Gimu, Athi River, during a follow-up operation. The arrests occurred without incident as the suspects were caught off guard and offered little resistance.
All three suspects are now in custody and undergoing processing as authorities prepare formal charges against them. Investigators are working to piece together additional details of the robbery and track down the remaining accomplices who are still at large. Leads gathered during the investigation suggest that the suspects were part of a larger criminal network involved in similar incidents in the region.
The items recovered during the operation, including the weapon and stolen goods, have been retained as evidence and are being held securely to support the prosecution of the case. Law enforcement officials have reassured the public that efforts are ongoing to dismantle the entire group responsible for the attack and to prevent further such incidents in the area.
The arrests have brought a sense of relief to the local community and employees of the affected company, who are still recovering from the trauma of the violent episode. Authorities continue to urge members of the public with any information regarding the whereabouts of the remaining suspects to come forward and assist in bringing all perpetrators to justice.
