Traffic flow along the Njoro–Mau Summit (B129) Road has been fully restored following the completion of pavement reconstruction works. The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced the reopening after a month-long closure that began on October 9, 2025, to allow for major repairs along the route.
The closure had been implemented to facilitate the upgrading of a key section of the road located about one kilometre past the Keringet Factory and two kilometres before Molo Town. During this period, motorists were advised to use an alternative route via the Nakuru–Mau Summit (A8) Road through Kibunja Junction. However, heavy trucks and long lorries were restricted from using the diversion due to a sharp and narrow curve that posed safety concerns.
KeNHA expressed gratitude to the public for their patience and cooperation during the construction period, emphasizing that the temporary inconvenience was necessary to improve the quality and durability of the road. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe, reliable, and efficient road network that meets the needs of all road users across the country.
The Njoro–Mau Summit Road serves as an important link between Molo, Mau Summit, and other parts of Nakuru County, facilitating trade, agricultural transport, and passenger movement. Its reopening is expected to ease traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and boost economic activity in the region.
In a separate update, KeNHA clarified that no tenders have yet been awarded for the construction of the Nairobi–Nakuru–Mau Summit and Rironi–Maai Mahiu–Naivasha road projects. The authority explained that while concurrence has been granted to initiate negotiations with a preferred bidder, the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Committee has not yet given final approval for the award.
KeNHA assured the public that all processes related to the upcoming road projects will be conducted transparently and in accordance with the PPP Act and Treasury guidelines. The planned upgrades, covering approximately 175 kilometres of the Rironi–Nakuru–Mau Summit section and 58 kilometres of the Rironi–Maai Mahiu–Naivasha route, are expected to significantly enhance mobility, reduce congestion, and support regional integration once implemented.
Meta Description:
Traffic flow has resumed along the Njoro–Mau Summit Road after successful reconstruction works. KeNHA confirms completion and reassures the public of transparent progress on major highway projects.
