A 67-year-old man was stabbed to death during a robbery along Igobor Road in Kaptembwo, Nakuru County, on Sunday night. The victim, identified as William Nyabera, a retired driver at the Ministry of Information, was reportedly heading home from Nakuru town on his motorcycle when he was ambushed by a gang of unknown assailants.
According to police reports, the attackers confronted Nyabera and stabbed him several times in the stomach and chest before pushing him to the ground. They then made away with his motorcycle, using it as their getaway vehicle. Residents who rushed to the scene found Nyabera bleeding profusely and rushed him to the Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
His body was later moved to the Annex Funeral Home for preservation, pending a postmortem examination. Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspects behind the gruesome killing, which adds to the growing number of attacks targeting motorcycle riders in the region.
Police have cautioned riders to exercise caution, especially when traveling at night, and advised them to cooperate with attackers in the event of a robbery to avoid loss of life. Cases of motorcycle theft accompanied by violent assaults have been on the rise in parts of Nakuru, with several victims either killed or seriously injured during such incidents.
In a separate incident in Nyamira County, a woman died after reportedly jumping from the second floor of a building in Nyaigwa village following an altercation with her boyfriend. The woman, identified as Sheril Ohanga, sustained multiple injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at a local hospital. Her boyfriend was taken into custody for questioning as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in Magumu village, Nyandarua County, a 28-year-old casual worker, John Thuo, was stabbed and killed during an argument. He suffered a deep cut in the groin that led to excessive bleeding. Thuo was rushed to Naivasha Level Four Hospital, where he was also declared dead on arrival. Police later arrested the suspected assailant.
In another incident in Runda, Nairobi, residents foiled a robbery attempt and recovered a Jericho pistol and stolen property. A lone gunman had attacked a security guard along Kiambu Road, but boda boda riders responded quickly, forcing the suspect to abandon the stolen items before escaping. Police are pursuing leads to arrest him.
