A tragic incident unfolded in Ntimaru, Migori County, where a woman was brutally killed while trying to stop a violent altercation between her husband and son. The woman, identified as 40-year-old Christine Mokami, died on the spot after being struck multiple times in the head by her husband.
According to police reports, the husband had returned home late on Saturday, October 4, 2025, and picked a quarrel with his son. What began as a verbal exchange quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. In a desperate attempt to calm the situation, Mokami intervened, only for her husband to turn on her with a weapon. The attack left her fatally wounded as she collapsed and died inside their house.
The couple’s son sustained a cut on his left hand during the altercation and was rushed to hospital, where he was treated and later discharged. Following the incident, the assailant fled the scene and is currently being pursued by police, who have urged him to surrender. Mokami’s body was moved to the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.
In a separate incident in Kipotoni, Lungalunga, Kwale County, a 70-year-old man was murdered by unknown assailants. The victim, identified as Tsuma Mwijo, was attacked while sitting on a plastic chair at his sister’s home. The attackers cut him in the back of the neck, killing him instantly before escaping. The motive behind the killing remains unclear, though residents suspect the assault may be linked to cultural beliefs or land disputes that have caused rising insecurity in the coastal region. Police have launched investigations into the murder and other similar attacks targeting the elderly in Kwale and Kilifi counties.
Meanwhile, in Isiolo Town’s Kiwanjani area, a 15-year-old girl died after being electrocuted in a freak accident. Police said the tragedy occurred when a motorcycle rider connected his motorbike to an electric power source for security reasons. Unaware of the danger, the girl touched the motorcycle and was instantly electrocuted. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The three separate incidents across Migori, Kwale, and Isiolo counties have sparked renewed concern over domestic violence, insecurity, and negligence. Authorities are urging communities to embrace peaceful conflict resolution, ensure safety awareness, and remain vigilant as investigations into the incidents continue.
