Meanwhile, in Nairobi, a 36-year-old woman, Huda Hamid, died in a car accident near the Radisson Blu Hotel. She lost control of her Nissan Juke car, hitting the pavement before the vehicle rolled over. Hamid sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at Kenyatta National Hospital. Her three-and-a-half-year-old son, who was with her, escaped unharmed.
The accident was one of several fatal incidents reported on Thursday, claiming five lives, including two drivers, a pedestrian, a rider, and a pedal cyclist. Fourteen others were seriously injured and admitted to various hospitals.
