A tragic incident has left a family in mourning after a 10-year-old girl died when a perimeter wall collapsed on her in the Kiawara slums, located in the Mukaro area of Nyeri County. The incident occurred on July 1 while the girl was playing near the wall with a four-year-old companion. According to police reports, the wall gave way suddenly and landed on the two children.
Both girls were rushed to hospital immediately after the accident. Sadly, the older girl succumbed to her injuries while undergoing medical attention. The younger girl remains hospitalized in serious condition. At the time of the accident, their mother was reportedly not at home. Meanwhile, fresh controversy surrounds the death of a man in Nyeri whose autopsy revealed a severe head injury as the cause of death, specifically a massive intracranial haemorrhage resulting from blunt force trauma. The case has drawn attention after a mortuary attendant claimed to have discovered a bullet on the floor near the operating table. It is suspected that the bullet was deliberately planted in an attempt to interfere with the autopsy findings. Several individuals have recorded statements, and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority is now investigating the matter amid allegations of police involvement, which the authorities have denied.
