Several tragic and mysterious deaths were reported over the weekend across different parts of Kenya, with police launching investigations into each case.
In Ngara, Nairobi, a 35-year-old woman identified as Mary Wangari was discovered dead in her bathroom. The incident occurred on June 21 in her rental house. According to authorities, she was alone at the time of her death. A neighbor discovered her body after noticing her absence and alerted the police. Preliminary information suggests that she may have fallen while taking a shower, although the exact cause of death remains unclear. The body was moved to the mortuary, and an autopsy has been scheduled as part of ongoing investigations.
In another incident in the Ngomongo area of Kasarani, police are investigating the death of 23-year-old Faith Njoki, whose body was found lying on the roadside. Njoki had reportedly left her home on Saturday night without disclosing her destination. Her husband told police that he was later notified that her body had been discovered hours after she went missing. The cause of her death is still unknown, and the body was taken to the mortuary for postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, in Tala, Machakos County, the body of a 60-year-old man, Francis Mutua, was discovered inside a butchery. Witnesses said the man had entered the premises and requested to sit and rest. He reportedly dozed off and remained undisturbed by the attendants, who assumed he was simply sleeping. He was found unresponsive the following day. Police were called to the scene, and his body was taken to the mortuary for autopsy and further investigation. The exact circumstances leading to his death are yet to be established.
In a separate case in Konoin, Bomet County, police are treating the death of Leonard Langat as a murder. Langat had been taken to a local hospital with visible injuries and claimed he had been assaulted. Although initially reported to be in fair condition, he later succumbed to his injuries. His body bore multiple injuries to the head, buttocks, and legs. Before passing, Langat named his alleged attacker, who has since been arrested for questioning. The motive behind the assault has not been determined.
These incidents highlight a troubling trend of sudden and unexplained deaths across the country. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to thoroughly investigate each case and bring those responsible to justice where foul play is suspected. Police have also urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity promptly to help curb the rise in such incidents.
