Police in Kabete are investigating a tragic incident that occurred at Kabete Vet Lab Secondary School, where two security guards were killed during a brutal night attack. The incident took place on Friday evening, October 17, 2025, shortly after the school’s students had completed preparations for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
According to witnesses, an alert watchman from a nearby school raised the alarm after hearing strange noises coming from the school compound. Unknown assailants had gained access to the school and attacked the two night guards, before going on to vandalize several facilities within the premises.
The school headteacher, Evans Owala, confirmed the grim details, saying that when he arrived at the scene, one of the guards was already dead, and the second succumbed to injuries while being rushed to the hospital. The attackers not only took the lives of the guards but also stole valuable items from the school, including ten laptops and several keyboards from the computer laboratory. In their rush to escape, some of the stolen items fell along the school corridors, along with broken CCTV equipment that had been packed in a carton box, presumably in an attempt to steal them.
One of the deceased guards, Dickson Omollo, was identified by his elder brother, Kenneth Wanjala, who expressed his shock and grief over the loss. Wanjala called for justice for his brother and the other victim, appealing for assistance from anyone who could help in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The attack has left the community and the school staff shaken, as the brutality of the crime unfolded just after the students had finished their exams. Police from Kabete Police Station have launched a full investigation into the matter and are reviewing available CCTV footage from nearby institutions in an effort to track down the suspects.
The bodies of the two guards were transferred to the Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary for further examination as authorities continue their search for the criminals responsible for this senseless act of violence.
