Police officers in Nairobi have arrested two suspects and recovered a firearm during a late-night operation in Embakasi’s Pipeline area.
The operation unfolded on Sunday night when officers on patrol received intelligence from members of the public about suspicious individuals believed to be in possession of a firearm. Acting on the tip-off, the team proceeded to Munche Building, where they targeted a room on the sixth floor occupied by the suspects.
A thorough search of the premises led to the discovery of a Powerline Airstrike pistol, which had been concealed inside a carton box. The suspects were immediately arrested and placed in custody. Authorities have confirmed that they remain in detention as investigations into the matter continue.
The arrested individuals are expected to be processed and arraigned in court once investigations are concluded. Officials have reiterated the importance of collaboration between the public and security agencies, urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities.
Law enforcement agencies commended both the community for providing actionable intelligence and the officers for their swift response that led to the successful recovery of the weapon. Security authorities emphasized their ongoing commitment to safeguarding citizens, residents, and visitors across the country.
The Embakasi incident follows a separate security operation in Baringo County, where authorities recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 25 rounds of ammunition. The weapon was discovered hidden within the homestead of a suspected illegal firearm holder during a multi-agency operation.
Although the suspect in Baringo evaded arrest during the raid, security agencies have intensified efforts to track and apprehend the individual. The recovery of the weapons in both Embakasi and Baringo highlights ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and enhance public safety.
Authorities have assured the public that these operations will continue as part of a wider crackdown on criminal networks and unlicensed firearm possession. Citizens are encouraged to maintain strong partnerships with security personnel, as timely sharing of information remains vital in preventing crime and ensuring community safety.
