Detectives in Nyamira County are investigating a shocking incident in which a two-year-old boy was brutally slashed to death by his aunt in Bokeira village, Nyamusi. The horrific attack occurred on Friday night following a domestic dispute at their home.
According to police reports, the woman assaulted the young boy using a panga, inflicting deep cuts to his head. Neighbours and family members who rushed to the scene were met with the distressing sight of the assailant holding the boy’s injured head, still clutching the weapon. She later dropped the panga and fled, leaving the child lifeless.
Officers who arrived at the scene recovered the murder weapon, which has been preserved as an exhibit. The body of the minor was taken to a local mortuary for an autopsy as investigations into the shocking murder continue. Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large.
Elsewhere in Bungoma County, the body of a 31-year-old man, identified as Dennis Buluma, was discovered along the Ngalasia-Kibochi road in Nalondo. The deceased had visible injuries on his head, back, and chest, believed to have been inflicted with a blunt object. Authorities are yet to determine the motive behind the killing, and investigations are ongoing.
In Nairobi’s Drive-In area, a 45-year-old woman, Deborah Awinja, was found dead in her house after reportedly complaining of a severe toothache. Her son told police that she had taken painkillers and gone to bed but failed to wake up the next morning. A doctor later confirmed her death, and the body was moved to the mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, in Msambweni, Kwale County, police are probing the murder of a 27-year-old man, Said Omar Mwakitsusi, whose body was found abandoned in a corridor of their family home. The motive for the killing remains unclear.
In Bomet County, one suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Ken Bosco, who was attacked and killed in June. The suspect is expected to be arraigned soon. Additionally, in Meru County, an 80-year-old man, Miris Kilaa, was found dead by the roadside with neck injuries in a suspected murder.
Authorities say murder cases across the country have been rising at an alarming rate, with up to eight such incidents reported daily. Police have pledged to intensify investigations and bring the perpetrators to justice.
