A 40-year-old woman was found dead following a suspected domestic fight with her husband in Dandora, Nairobi. The incident has sparked renewed concern over the rising cases of domestic-related murders in the country.
The deceased, identified as Judy Wambui Maina, was discovered lying lifeless on the floor of her home on Sunday, October 12, 2025. According to police reports, her husband—who is the main suspect in the killing—was missing when officers arrived at the scene.
Neighbours said they heard a commotion coming from the couple’s house earlier in the evening. When they went to check, they found the woman’s body with visible injuries on her head. Authorities were alerted immediately, and officers moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.
Nairobi police confirmed that the suspect fled the scene shortly after the incident. A manhunt has been launched to track him down for questioning. The motive behind the killing has not yet been established, but investigators suspect it was a result of domestic violence that turned fatal.
Cases of women being killed in domestic disputes have been on the rise, drawing attention from both government and civil society groups. A special task force formed earlier this year to investigate femicide cases has already compiled a preliminary report, which is expected to be made public soon.
In a separate incident in Mosoriot, Nandi County, a 60-year-old man identified as Nathan Ngesirei was found dead and naked by the roadside. His body had visible head injuries, and a blood-stained wooden object believed to have been used in the attack was recovered nearby. Police are investigating the motive behind the killing.
Elsewhere in Daraja Mbili, Kisumu County, a 25-year-old man, Hillary Odhiambo, was stabbed to death after a quarrel with his cousin over a missing mobile phone charger. The suspect, who sustained injuries to his hand during the fight, was arrested at a local hospital while seeking treatment.
In another case in Homa Bay County, a 22-year-old fisherman, Byron Ochieng, drowned while fishing at Kasiege Beach on Lake Victoria. His body was recovered two days later near the shoreline.
Police have urged the public to resolve conflicts peacefully and report domestic disputes early to prevent further loss of life.
