A 59-year-old woman has been arrested in Ndithini village, Masinga, Machakos County, after allegedly killing her husband during a domestic dispute.
According to initial reports, the victim, identified as Anthony Muli, returned home late on Saturday evening, sparking a quarrel with his wife. The argument quickly escalated, with Muli allegedly reaching for a metal rod in an attempt to attack her. In a struggle that followed, the woman overpowered him, seized the weapon, and struck him fatally on the head.
Muli died instantly from the injuries. His body was later moved to a nearby mortuary for an autopsy as detectives opened investigations. The woman remains in custody as police continue to piece together the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
Authorities noted that the Machakos case is one among several killings reported in different parts of the country in recent days, raising concerns about the surge in violent crimes.
In Kakamega County, residents of Matete woke up to the shocking death of 44-year-old Martin Chebuku, who was attacked while heading home. His body was discovered by the roadside alongside a pair of shoes, a mobile phone, and a metal rod. The motive of the killing remains unclear, and no arrests have been made so far.
In Homabay County, two separate killings are also under investigation. Sixty-seven-year-old Grace Orinda succumbed to injuries on September 5, two days after being assaulted. In another case, the body of 40-year-old Enos Otieno was found in Koyoo area of Rangwe sub-county, bearing injuries to his ears, hands, and back.
Meanwhile, in Migori town, boda boda operator George Moses, aged 28, was discovered dead by the roadside on Saturday. Investigators believe he was murdered elsewhere before his body was dumped. His body bore visible bruises on the head and legs.
Police say investigations into all these cases are ongoing, but they admit solving the recent wave of killings has proven challenging. The series of violent incidents has unsettled communities and renewed calls for stronger interventions to address domestic and criminal violence.
