Detectives in Kiambu County are investigating the brutal murder of a 30-year-old woman, Jackline Kangashi, whose body was discovered in her rented house following a domestic altercation in Kabete. The tragic incident occurred in Mutengo village, Kanyariri, where police found her lifeless body with deep cuts on the neck, believed to have been inflicted by a panga.
According to preliminary reports, Kangashi’s husband, the main suspect in the case, fled the scene immediately after the attack. Their three young children, aged nine, six, and three, were found inside the house, visibly shaken by the horrific events. The woman’s body was lying in a pool of blood when police arrived. A panga believed to have been used in the assault was recovered from the scene as evidence.
The children reportedly told investigators that their parents had a heated quarrel before their father turned violent and attacked their mother. Following the incident, the children were taken into the care of a relative as investigations into the matter continue. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
The tragic case adds to the growing number of domestic violence incidents reported across the country. Authorities have expressed concern over the rising cases of family-related murders and are calling for increased community vigilance and early interventions to prevent such tragedies.
In a separate incident, detectives are searching for a 28-year-old man, Wycliffe Otieno Odero, accused of killing his wife and two daughters in Samburu Central on September 27, 2025. Reports indicate that Odero attacked his wife, Ann Njeri Atheera, before fatally slitting the throats of their two young daughters, aged six and four. The suspect fled the scene and has remained at large despite ongoing efforts by police to track him down.
Meanwhile, in Kilgoris, Narok County, police are investigating another suspected murder after the body of a 65-year-old casual labourer, David Ogega, was found along Olalui Road. The deceased had visible injuries on his face, head, and left hand, suggesting he was assaulted with a blunt object. A pool of blood and signs of a struggle were observed at the scene.
Police in all three cases have pledged to intensify efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice as they continue to grapple with an alarming surge in domestic and violent crimes across the country.
