Detectives in Nairobi are investigating the brutal murder of a woman whose body was discovered in a lodging in Mukuru Fuata Nyayo slums. The woman, identified as Farhia Ahmed, was found lifeless with injuries to the back of her head and blood oozing from her nose, pointing to a violent assault.
According to investigators, the victim had checked into the lodging with a man on Sunday night. The two paid Sh400 for the room and were expected to spend the night together. By Monday morning, the man had disappeared, leaving behind the woman’s body.
The caretaker of the facility noticed the room door partially open and upon checking inside, found the woman lying motionless on the bed. She immediately raised the alarm, drawing the attention of police officers who confirmed that the woman had been murdered. Authorities say the main suspect is on the run but is known to them.
The motive of the killing has not yet been established, and detectives are working to trace the suspect’s movements after he slipped away unnoticed. The body of the victim was transferred to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
This latest killing adds to the growing concern over rising cases of women murdered in different parts of the country. The government has already formed a special team to investigate the disturbing trend and recommend possible interventions. The findings of the study are still pending.
Meanwhile, security agencies are also probing separate violent incidents reported over the weekend. In Marsabit County, a 37-year-old motorcycle rider identified as Yattani Jora was found shot dead along the Saru-Sabarei Road in Dukana. His body bore multiple bullet wounds on the head, back, thigh, and hand. He was still in his helmet when police arrived at the scene, and the sheep he had been transporting remained tied to the motorcycle. Investigators have ruled out robbery as nothing was stolen.
Elsewhere in Lamu County, a 65-year-old man, Abdi Khalif Adow, lost his life after being struck on the head with a stone during an altercation near a mosque. Police arrested the suspect shortly after the attack and rescued him from an angry mob that attempted to lynch him. The man is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete
