A Kenyan woman who also holds American citizenship has filed a lawsuit against Mugithi artist Samuel Muchoki Ndirangu, popularly known as Samidoh, accusing him of sexual assault during his music tour in the United States.
In her sworn affidavit presented before the Milimani High Court, the woman identified only by her initials M.R.W. alleges that the artist raped her in Overland Park, Kansas, on November 28, 2021. She claims that Samidoh lured her to a short-stay rental house and forced himself on her despite her persistent resistance.
According to her testimony, the incident was marked by verbal insults and humiliation. She asserts that the musician mocked her pleas and later subjected her to continuous intimidation and manipulation between 2021 and 2023. She further alleges that he used demeaning language in private conversations, at one point branding her a “35-year-old professional prostitute.” She says she has preserved text messages and recordings to support her claims.
Following the alleged assault, M.R.W. reported the matter to the Overland Park Police Department in Kansas, where a case was registered under rape classification as Case No. 2023022021. She also lodged a formal complaint with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kenya on June 12, 2025. However, she contends that the agency failed to properly register, investigate, or advance her complaint.
In her petition, she argues that the DCI has not taken steps to invoke international legal cooperation mechanisms to obtain certified evidence from the United States. She has also listed the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) as a respondent, urging the court to compel the DPP to review the investigation file and make a reasoned decision within 30 days, with written communication of the outcome.
The petitioner has asked the court for strict anonymity and privacy protections throughout the proceedings. She seeks permission for the continued use of her initials in all court documents, sealing of records that could reveal her identity, and redaction of personal details in the public domain. Additionally, she requests that hearings be held in camera where necessary to protect her dignity and security.
The case now awaits judicial directions, with the court expected to determine how the investigation and prosecution process will proceed in light of the international dimension of the allegations.
