A 24-year-old female teacher was brutally murdered in her home in Kamutari village, Merigi, Bomet County, in what police suspect was a domestic dispute. The victim, identified as Jessica Chelangat, was found lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts to her head and hands, believed to have been inflicted using a panga.
Authorities suspect that her husband was behind the heinous act and fled the scene shortly after the incident, which took place on July 29 in Kiromwok village. The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and a manhunt has been launched as police urge the suspect to surrender for questioning.
Chelangat was a teacher at a local private academy and was described by locals as a calm and dedicated professional. Her body has been taken to the mortuary as investigations and an autopsy are conducted.
In a separate incident in Isebania, Migori County, a 35-year-old man named Tiberis Mogendi was killed over suspicions of theft. His body was found inside a shop, bearing a severe head wound believed to have been caused by a blunt object that crushed his skull. The motive remains uncertain, and police are treating it as a murder case.
Meanwhile, in Mrabenyi village, Mwatate, Taita Taveta County, a bodaboda rider identified as Damian Legha, 30, was found murdered. His body, which had deep head cuts and signs of dragging, was discovered in a nearby thicket. Blood was still oozing from his face when found. Authorities have transferred the body to Voi Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for a postmortem as investigations continue.
Another disturbing discovery was made in Muthaiga village, Mwingi, Kitui County, where a naked male body was found in a bush. The body bore visible injuries on the back, a broken left hand, and a head wound.
