Vogue US has officially appointed Chloe Malle as its new head of editorial content, taking over just over two months after Anna Wintour stepped down as editor-in-chief following an extraordinary 37-year tenure. Malle, formerly editor of Vogue.com and co-host of the magazine’s weekly fashion podcast, The Run-Through, will now direct the creative and editorial vision of the iconic publication while reporting directly to Wintour.
In a statement, Malle expressed that she is “thrilled and honored” to assume the position, acknowledging Wintour for her trust and mentorship in taking on this pivotal role. The appointment emphasizes Vogue’s ongoing commitment to strong editorial leadership while embracing new perspectives in today’s dynamic fashion landscape.
Malle’s Rise Through Vogue
Wintour praised Malle’s 14-year tenure at Vogue, highlighting key contributions, including the launch of Vogue.com’s popular canine feature, Dogue. “I had one chance to get this right,” Wintour said regarding the appointment, adding her excitement to work with Malle in a new dynamic as both mentor and student, exploring new directions in fashion journalism together.
Although Wintour no longer serves as Vogue US editor-in-chief, she continues to hold significant influence at Condé Nast. She remains Chief Content Officer across multiple brands, including WIRED, Vanity Fair, GQ, and Condé Nast Traveler, and continues as Global Editorial Director for Vogue, overseeing the Met Gala.
Wintour’s Enduring Legacy
Anna Wintour’s journey at Vogue began in 1983 as creative director, later leading British Vogue from 1985 to 1987 before becoming US editor-in-chief. She transformed the magazine by putting celebrities on covers, championing designers such as Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen, and expanding Vogue globally. Under her leadership, Vogue launched several international editions, including Vogue Philippines in 2022, highlighting diverse talent and global fashion perspectives.
Vogue US Moving Forward Under Malle
With Chloe Malle as Vogue US head of editorial content, the publication is poised to blend tradition with innovation. Her expertise in digital editorial strategy positions her to guide Vogue through evolving readership and media trends. As Malle steps into this role, she inherits not only a prestigious title but also the responsibility to maintain Vogue’s influence in fashion and culture worldwide.
