A man was brutally killed in a suspected love triangle incident in Myanga village, Bungoma County, after being attacked with a power saw. The victim, identified as Edward Mwela, was found dead in a pool of blood inside a woman’s house on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
According to police reports, Mwela had gone to visit a single mother in the village when another man, believed to have been hiding inside the house, attacked him. The assailant allegedly used a power saw to inflict a deep cut on Mwela’s neck before fleeing the scene. The gruesome attack left the local community in shock.
A bloodstained power saw, suspected to be the murder weapon, was discovered abandoned about 100 metres from where the body was found. Authorities quickly responded to the scene and began investigations into the incident. The woman whose house the killing took place in was arrested to assist police with their inquiries.
The body of the deceased was moved to the local mortuary pending a post-mortem examination and further investigations. Police have launched a manhunt for the prime suspect, urging him to surrender to law enforcement officers for processing.
Officials have raised concerns about the increasing number of violent incidents related to love triangles in rural areas. They are appealing to the public to resolve domestic and romantic disputes amicably rather than resorting to violence.
In a separate incident in Kamukuywa, also in Bungoma County, residents were left horrified after discovering the decomposed body of a 61-year-old man, identified as Jeremiah Wekesa, in his home. The body had deep cuts on the head and neck, indicating a violent death. A panga, jembe stick, and spear—believed to have been used in the murder—were recovered at the scene.
Neighbours raised the alarm after detecting a foul smell and noticing flies around the home, prompting police to break into the house. Investigations suggest the victim may have been killed at least four days before the discovery.
Meanwhile, in Kunene, Tigania, Meru County, another murder was reported after the body of 55-year-old Peter Giterere was found dumped in a farm. Police believe he was killed elsewhere and his body later abandoned at the site. The body had visible injuries on the face, chest, and hands.
Detectives have classified the location as a secondary crime scene and are following leads to trace where the actual killing occurred. All the bodies have been taken to local mortuaries as investigations continue.
