Arsenal midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly has thrown his full support behind the club’s high-profile summer signing, Noni Madueke, believing the former Chelsea winger will play a transformative role in Arsenal’s attacking setup.
The Gunners made a bold statement in the transfer market by securing the services of the 23-year-old England international for over £50 million. Madueke signed a five-year contract after completing 92 appearances for Chelsea and earning his senior England debut in the previous season.
While some critics have questioned the rationale behind bringing in another right winger when Bukayo Saka has been consistently excelling in that role, Lewis-Skelly views Madueke’s arrival as both a strategic reinforcement and a catalyst for increased competition and dynamism in the squad.
Speaking during the club’s pre-season tour, Lewis-Skelly expressed his enthusiasm about linking up with Madueke again, having formed a strong bond with him during national team duties. He highlighted their chemistry and shared understanding, describing Madueke as someone he deeply connects with on and off the pitch.

According to Lewis-Skelly, Madueke’s direct style of play, flair, and ability to play on both wings will add a new dimension to Arsenal’s attacking options. “His qualities are going to help us immensely,” he said. “I’m incredibly excited to have him because he’s going to bring a lot to the team.”
Madueke becomes Arsenal’s fourth major acquisition in what has been an ambitious summer window. He follows the arrivals of Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Danish defensive midfielder Christian Norgaard, and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who also made the switch from Chelsea. Additionally, striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon and center-back Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia have joined to bolster the squad.
Despite not yet registering double figures in Premier League goals, Madueke’s top-flight experience, coupled with his time in the Eredivisie and Champions League, makes him a valuable asset. At just 23, his potential remains vast, and his versatility may prove vital in a long and demanding campaign.
If Lewis-Skelly’s optimism is anything to go by, Noni Madueke could soon become an indispensable part of Mikel Arteta’s title-challenging squad.
