A police officer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Lucky Summer, Nairobi, sparking a probe by detectives. The body of the officer, identified as a constable attached to the Kariobangi North Police Station, was discovered in a drainage ditch near the fence of the Lucky Summer police station on Sunday evening. He was also a resident of the Lucky Summer police lines.
According to initial reports, the officer was found with blood oozing from his mouth but with no visible injuries on his body at the time. His head was described as having been in a superimposed position within the culvert where the body lay. The deceased’s body was later transferred to a local mortuary as authorities await the outcome of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Detectives visited the scene and launched investigations, with the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death remaining unclear. Authorities have not ruled out foul play but are awaiting the results of forensic analysis and autopsy before drawing conclusions.
Meanwhile, in Homa Bay County, police are also investigating a separate suspected murder incident. A man was discovered dead along a roadside in Ringa on Saturday night. Preliminary information suggests he may have been attacked by an unknown assailant. Blood was reportedly seen oozing from his left ear. The motive behind the suspected attack remains unknown. Like the Nairobi case, the body was taken to the mortuary pending autopsy and further police inquiry.
In yet another disturbing incident, a police officer was seriously injured in a robbery in Eldoret. The officer, who is attached to the Eldoret Central Police Station, was reportedly attacked on Saturday night in the Jerusalem area of Sigot Sub-location, Chepkoilel. He sustained a deep cut on his head and was robbed of his mobile phone, cash amounting to Sh200, and other personal belongings. The officer had been on his way home from work when he was ambushed. He is currently admitted to a local hospital in stable condition, and police have launched investigations to apprehend the suspects.
In a separate but possibly related security concern, police in the Langas area of Eldoret recovered a firearm concealed in a sack of garbage. The sack had reportedly been discarded by a group of street children who fled upon noticing law enforcement officers. Upon inspection, a Ceska pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition was found inside. Authorities are now working to establish the origin of the weapon and whether it may have been used in criminal activity.
All four incidents point to rising security concerns in different regions, prompting calls for heightened vigilance and thorough investigations by law enforcement agencies.
