AFC Leopards have rolled out an exciting new reward structure designed to motivate players and reignite their quest for the FKF Premier League title. The club, one of Kenya’s most decorated with 12 league titles, is taking a bold financial approach to ensure the team consistently delivers positive results on the pitch.
After years without a league crown since 1998, Leopards’ management believes that proper financial motivation is the missing ingredient needed to inspire the players to fight for top honours. The club’s leadership has now prioritized prompt salary payments and introduced significant win bonuses to keep morale high and performance steady.
According to the club’s secretary general, the new incentive system ensures that players are rewarded directly for their contributions. For every win, each player currently earns close to Ksh10,000, with plans to increase the figure to as much as Ksh30,000 per match in the near future. This structure is part of a broader Ksh7 million bonus pool dedicated specifically to player rewards, separate from other club expenses.
The initiative also aims to instill a results-driven mentality within the team. The bonus system is progressive—consistent victories will increase the players’ rewards, while draws or losses will see the figures drop. This model, the club believes, will cultivate a strong winning culture where every point counts and every goal matters.
In addition to the senior team, AFC Leopards have extended this vision to include the youth and women’s teams, underscoring their commitment to holistic development. The leadership insists that success must be felt across all levels of the club’s structure to maintain sustainability and meet licensing requirements.
The new structure comes at a time when Leopards have found form, securing back-to-back wins over KCB and Shabana FC. These victories have propelled them to fourth place on the league table with nine points from five matches, just four behind current leaders Kakamega Homeboyz, who have played an extra game.
With the team’s renewed spirit and a solid financial incentive plan, AFC Leopards are showing serious intent to end their decades-long title drought. If the motivation scheme continues to drive performance, Ingwe could finally return to the summit of Kenyan football.
