Kenyan world champion Beatrice Chebet is set to receive a prestigious Honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Kabianga in recognition of her remarkable achievements and contributions to global athletics.
The university has nominated Chebet for the Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters, acknowledging her outstanding performance in long-distance running and her role in inspiring generations of young athletes.
According to the institution, Chebet’s dedication, discipline, and excellence have placed her among the most celebrated athletes in the world. Her exceptional achievements have not only elevated Kenya’s position in global sports but have also made her a symbol of perseverance and national pride.
Chebet made history by winning double gold medals in the 10,000-meter and 5,000-meter races at both the 2024 Summer Olympics and the 2025 World Athletics Championships. She also holds world records in the 5,000 meters, 5-kilometer road race, and 10,000 meters, showcasing her dominance in long-distance events.
The university commended her for being a positive role model and mentor to many, emphasizing that her journey from rural Kenya to international stardom demonstrates the power of hard work, determination, and resilience.
