AFC Leopards have taken a major step towards reclaiming their status as a dominant force in Kenyan football after renewing their partnership with leading gaming firm Betika in a record Sh231 million sponsorship agreement.
The new three-year deal represents the biggest sponsorship package in the club’s history, eclipsing the Sh195 million arrangement signed in 2022. The financial boost comes just weeks before the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season kicks off, offering the twelve-time champions timely stability and renewed optimism.
Under the agreement, Leopards will receive Sh65 million plus Sh7 million in bonuses in the first year, Sh70 million plus Sh7 million in the second, and Sh75 million plus Sh7 million in the final year. This structured support is expected to provide the consistency needed to rebuild the club’s competitive edge on and off the pitch.
The partnership reflects a shared vision of nurturing homegrown talent and creating opportunities for young players across the country. Beyond the financial figures, Betika has emphasized its commitment to fostering community development through sport, highlighting football as a crucial pathway for thousands of Kenyan youths aspiring to play at the highest level.
For AFC Leopards, the deal could not have been more timely. Newly elected chairman Boniface Ambani described the sponsorship as a turning point, stressing the urgent need for structured investment not just in elite clubs but also at the grassroots. He pointed out that many local teams brim with raw talent but often struggle due to lack of resources. Long-term partnerships like this, he noted, are critical in building a strong pipeline of players from village pitches to national stadiums.
The financial injection is set to strengthen player recruitment, enhance club facilities, and boost fan engagement. With this backing, AFC Leopards are poised to compete more effectively in the league while laying foundations for sustained growth.
This landmark sponsorship also signals a wider opportunity for Kenyan football, demonstrating the role corporate support can play in revitalizing the sport. As other clubs look on, the hope is that more companies will follow Betika’s lead in securing the future of the game.
