Harambee Stars are set to embark on their CHAN 2024 journey at the iconic Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, where they will look to make a mark in front of their passionate home supporters. Group A of the African Nations Championship promises to be one of the most exciting pools of the tournament, featuring some of the strongest teams in African football.
The 8th edition of CHAN, a tournament exclusive to players active in their domestic leagues, will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Group A fixtures will be held in Nairobi, split between the Moi International Sports Centre and the Nyayo National Stadium, ensuring that the Kenyan capital becomes the epicenter of African football throughout August 2025.
Group A features five highly competitive teams: hosts Kenya, defending champions Morocco, former winners DR Congo and Zambia, and the ever-unpredictable Angola. The format, which requires each team to play four matches, means that squad depth and consistency will play a vital role in determining which two teams advance to the quarterfinals.
The action kicks off on August 3, 2025, with hosts Kenya facing DR Congo at the Moi International Sports Centre. Later that evening, Morocco will clash with Angola at Nyayo Stadium. Fans are already anticipating a thrilling opening day, with both matches expected to set the tone for the rest of the tournament.
Matchday 2 takes place on August 7, with DR Congo meeting Zambia at Nyayo Stadium, while Angola and Kenya battle it out at Moi International Sports Centre. On August 10, Kenya will lock horns with Morocco in what could be a pivotal fixture for the home side, while Zambia faces Angola at Nyayo.
The group stage continues with August 14 featuring Morocco against Zambia and Angola against DR Congo. The final round of Group A fixtures on August 17 promises high drama, as Kenya squares off with Zambia and DR Congo takes on Morocco.
Morocco enters the tournament as favourites, having won the last two editions in 2018 and 2020. However, Kenya’s home advantage and the experience of DR Congo and Zambia add layers of unpredictability. Angola’s tactical approach also makes them a dark horse in this group. With so much talent on display, Group A is set to deliver a thrilling spectacle for football fans across the continent.
