The stage is set for the 59th edition of the Christie Sevens, the third leg of the 2025 National Sevens Circuit, which will take place on August 16th and 17th at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi. Hosted by Kenya Harlequin, the tournament promises two thrilling days of top-class rugby action as teams battle for vital points in the circuit standings.
The top-tier Division One competition will feature 16 elite teams divided into four pools. Pool A will see hosts Kenya Harlequin face Strathmore Leos, Zetech Oaks, and MSC Rugby in what is expected to be a fiercely contested group. Pool B features Catholic Monks, Nakuru RFC, Impala RFC, and MMUST, each aiming to make a strong push for the knockout stages.
Pool C is set to be one of the most competitive, headlined by Menengai Oilers and defending champions Kabras Sugar, alongside Daystar Falcons and Uganda’s Ruga Ruga Select. Pool D brings together KCB Rugby, Mwamba RFC, Nondescripts, and KU Blak Blad, promising high-intensity clashes throughout the group phase.
In Division Two, 20 teams have been drawn into five pools, each with four sides. Pool A features Kisumu RFC, Kisii Polytechnic, JKUAT Cougars, and Masaku Rugby. Pool B will see Homeboyz RFC, Kabarak University, TUM Marines, and Stormers RFC compete for top honors. Pool C is made up of AP Warriors, Stallions Rugby, Sigalagala Polytechnic, and Cooperative University.
Pool D contains Embu RFC, Kiambu Rugby, Northern Suburbs, and Eagles Rugby, while Pool E will showcase South Coast Pirates, Ngong Warriors, NYS Spades, and Rongai Morans. These fixtures promise competitive matches and a showcase of upcoming rugby talent from across the country.
The women’s competition will also take center stage, split into two tiers. In Tier One, Pool A features Mwamba RFC, Kenya Harlequin, Northern Suburbs, and Impala RFC. Tier Two’s Pool B includes NYS Ladies, Ruck It Rugby, Meru Ladies, and Rongo University.
Champions in all categories will be crowned after three pool matches, followed by the semi-finals and finals on Sunday. With high stakes, intense rivalries, and passionate fans, the Christie Sevens 2025 is poised to deliver a weekend of unforgettable rugby excitement in Nairobi.
