The Kisii leg of the KCB Golf Tour delivered a weekend of thrilling action, with Dismas Mokua and his team putting on a stellar performance to top the leaderboard with an impressive combined score of 99 points. The team, comprising Mokua, Peter Mogendi, Zachary Bichage, and Andrew Nyanusi, showcased exceptional synergy and strategic play to emerge victorious at the par-70 Kisii Golf Club course.
Their dominant display not only earned them the top team honours but also guaranteed them a spot in the prestigious KCB Golf Tour grand finale, set to take place on December 5. Speaking after the event, Mokua expressed his team’s delight at the win, attributing their success to collective discipline and a shared commitment to excellence on the course.
In the individual category, handicap 20 golfer Josphat Omayo emerged as the standout performer with a brilliant round of 37 stableford points, crowning him the overall winner of the day. His consistent play and composure under pressure saw him rise above a competitive field of over 100 golfers.
The event also featured strong performances across other categories. Wycliffe Ayienda, playing off handicap 8, won the Men’s title with 35 points, while Christine Nyangena, also on a 20 handicap, secured victory in the Ladies’ category with 33 points.
In divisional play, Charles Aburi (handicap 6) claimed the top spot in Division One with 35 points, Moses Lepiren (handicap 20) took Division Two honours with 32 points, and Alanna Osoro (handicap 40) won Division Three with 35 points.
Special awards added excitement to the event. Andrew Kombo scored 19 points to win the First Nine, while Peter Mogendi posted 20 to take the Second Nine. Sponsor prizes went to Steve Nyamanya and Eliud Siganga, who both carded 29 points.
Scola Onsongo triumphed in the Guest Category with 28 points, while the junior event ended in a tie at 29 points between Leo Osoro and Amani Kristen, with Leo winning on countback.
On-course skill contests saw David Biegon and Elizabeth Mose claim Longest Drive titles, and K Too secured Nearest to the Pin. The tour now heads to Sigona Golf Club on August 9 for the next thrilling leg.
