Four individuals have been arrested after images of U.S. President Donald Trump alongside the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were projected onto Windsor Castle ahead of the president’s state visit to the United Kingdom.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday evening, shortly before Trump’s formal welcome by King Charles III at the royal residence. Demonstrators first displayed a large banner near the castle before projecting images directly onto one of its towers. These included photographs of Trump with Epstein, news reports on Epstein’s criminal past, accounts from victims, police documents, and a controversial birthday letter purportedly written by Trump more than two decades ago.
Authorities described the act as an “unauthorised projection” and classified it as a malicious communication. The four suspects remain in custody as investigations continue. Officials condemned the stunt as a disruptive attempt to overshadow the ceremonial welcome prepared for the visiting head of state.
The projection has drawn renewed attention to Trump’s historical association with Epstein, an issue that continues to surface in political debates. While Trump has acknowledged knowing Epstein socially in the past, he has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has distanced himself from the disgraced financier, who died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
The resurfacing of the alleged birthday letter, which features a crude sketch of a naked woman alongside friendly remarks directed at Epstein, has sparked controversy. Although Trump’s team has dismissed the letter as inauthentic, critics have seized on it to question his past associations and judgment.
Despite the uproar, the president’s visit proceeded as planned. On Wednesday, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were welcomed with full royal ceremony, including a carriage procession, military salutes, and a state banquet at Windsor Castle hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The event was framed as a symbol of the enduring “special relationship” between the United States and the United Kingdom.
Looking ahead, Trump is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers, the prime minister’s countryside residence. Discussions are expected to focus on key bilateral issues, ranging from trade and security to international cooperation.
While the formal state visit continues, the dramatic protest has ensured that questions around Trump’s historical connections to Epstein will remain a focal point of media and public debate during his time in Britain
