Kenyan striker Masoud Juma has once again secured a professional contract abroad, joining Lebanese powerhouse Nejmeh SC shortly after a brief spell in the National Super League (NSL).
Juma had made headlines earlier when he joined Migori Youth just before the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which is exclusively for players active in their domestic leagues. His short-term stay at the club allowed him to feature for Harambee Stars in the tournament. However, his stint with the NSL side ended without him making an appearance, as a new opportunity emerged overseas.
The forward now teams up with fellow Kenyan international Anthony “Teddy” Akumu at Nejmeh SC, one of the most successful clubs in Lebanon. The Beirut-based giants boast nine league titles, their most recent triumph coming in the 2023–24 campaign. Juma’s arrival is expected to boost their attacking options as they push for more domestic and continental success.
Juma’s career reflects the path of a journeyman, having featured extensively across the Middle East since 2018. He has played in the United Arab Emirates, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and Iran. His most recent stop was with Iranian outfit Esteghlal, where he spent six months and contributed three goals in 17 appearances across all competitions. Despite modest numbers, he capped off his stint by lifting the Hazfi Cup with the club.
The striker’s familiarity with Middle Eastern football is likely to ease his adaptation to the Lebanese league. Moreover, having another Kenyan in Akumu at the club offers him additional comfort and support as he embarks on the next chapter of his career.
Juma becomes the third Kenyan player in the past year to head to Lebanon. He follows Akumu and former Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala, who signed for Al-Safa in August 2024. Omala’s move, however, faced complications, and he has since relocated to Cambodia.
For Juma, this latest switch represents both a continuation of his international football journey and a chance to re-establish himself as a reliable scorer in foreign leagues. Kenyan fans will be eager to see how he performs at Nejmeh, especially as the Harambee Stars look to build a strong squad ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
