Mohammed Bajaber has opened up about the emotional rollercoaster he experienced before sealing his high-profile move to Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
The 22-year-old Harambee Stars forward admitted that the night he learned about Simba’s interest was one of the longest in his life. Unable to contain his excitement and uncertainty, he barely slept, replaying the possibilities in his mind over and over.
Bajaber, a product of Starfield Academy in Parklands, has seen his football journey filled with both challenges and breakthroughs. In 2021, he attended trials with Danish top-flight side FC Midtjylland but did not secure a contract. Determined to keep moving forward, he signed for Nairobi City Stars in 2022 before making a mid-season switch to Kenya Police FC in February 2025.
His performances quickly caught attention at the international level. He made his debut for the Harambee Stars on January 4, 2025, in a friendly against Burkina Faso that ended in a 1-1 draw. Bajaber then grabbed headlines during Kenya’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Gambia, scoring in an entertaining 3-3 draw.

The move to Simba SC came just months into his stint with Kenya Police FC. Bajaber revealed that his brother was the one who broke the news of Simba’s interest, and at first, he found it hard to believe. He saw the opportunity as too big to ignore and urged his brother to keep pursuing it.
“I wasn’t sure if it would go through,” Bajaber recalled. “That night, I just couldn’t sleep. I was alone in my room, and the thought of joining one of the greatest clubs in Tanzania kept me awake. Simba is a big team.”
In the build-up to CHAN 2024, Bajaber withdrew from Kenya’s squad just days before the tournament to finalise the transfer. He was also recovering from an injury at the time, and the move allowed him extra time to regain full fitness.
Now fully fit and ready for the challenge, Bajaber is in Egypt with Simba SC for pre-season training. His focus is on making an immediate impact and cementing his place in one of Africa’s most competitive football environments.
