Juventus have made a bold move in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho by reportedly offering Manchester United a swap deal involving three of their players. The Italian giants are looking to capitalise on Sancho’s uncertain future at Old Trafford, as the English winger appears surplus to requirements under current manager Ruben Amorim.
Sancho has struggled to cement a place in United’s squad following a well-publicised falling out with former manager Erik ten Hag. The disagreement, which centred on Sancho’s training commitment, led to him being loaned back to Borussia Dortmund and later to Chelsea. While Chelsea had an option to make the deal permanent for £25 million, they opted against it, triggering a financial penalty and returning the player to Manchester.
With just one year left on his contract, and no clear signs of reintegration under Amorim, Sancho’s departure this summer appears inevitable. Juventus have stepped in with an ambitious swap proposal involving three players they are willing to part with.
Included in the potential deal is midfielder Douglas Luiz, a player with Premier League experience following his spell at Aston Villa. Luiz, who initially joined Villa from Manchester City, has been linked with a return to England and could bring much-needed stability and energy to United’s midfield. He has also been floated in similar swap talks involving United’s Brazilian winger Antony.
The second name on the list is Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic. The powerful centre-forward is coming off a solid season, having netted 17 goals in 44 appearances. Since moving to Juventus from Fiorentina in 2022, Vlahovic has scored 58 goals and remains one of the most lethal finishers in Serie A. His inclusion in the proposed deal would potentially solve Manchester United’s long-standing issue of needing a consistent goal scorer to complement or challenge Rasmus Højlund.
Rounding out the trio is American international Timothy Weah. The versatile right-back, who can also operate further up the field, has played for clubs like Celtic and Lille. Weah’s attacking instincts and work rate could add depth and competition to United’s flanks, especially as they seek reinforcement in the full-back positions.
Despite Juventus being willing to cover a significant transfer fee, Sancho’s £250,000-per-week wage remains a stumbling block. His high salary previously scuttled a potential switch to Napoli, even though personal terms were reportedly agreed.
While it remains uncertain whether all three players would be directly involved in a one-for-one swap, Juventus appear serious in their intention to bring Sancho to Turin. With pre-season approaching and transfer discussions heating up, this deal could prove to be one of the most intriguing moves of the summer.
