Kakamega Homeboyz have officially placed a Ksh15 million price tag on their star striker Moses Shumah, following his impressive performance in the just-concluded FKF Premier League season where he emerged as the top scorer with 17 goals.
Shumah’s form has not gone unnoticed, and the 22-year-old is now the subject of intense transfer interest from across the continent. Chief among the suitors are newly crowned Zambian champions Power Dynamos, who are keen to secure his services ahead of their CAF Champions League campaign next season.
The striker’s consistent performances have made him one of the hottest prospects in the region. His ability to score goals, create space, and lead the line with maturity beyond his years has caught the attention of clubs not just in Zambia but also in South Africa and among top FKF Premier League sides.
Kakamega Homeboyz, however, are not willing to let go of their prized asset cheaply. According to the club’s management, Shumah’s valuation has risen due to his Golden Boot success, and any interested party must be ready to meet the Ksh15 million asking price, an increase from the previous Ksh10 million.
The club insists that the valuation is justified, not only because of his individual brilliance but also the recognition it brings to the team and Kenyan football. There is a strong desire to show that elite talent in Kenya commands significant value, and Homeboyz want potential suitors to respect that by making competitive offers.
Apart from Power Dynamos, Zesco United have also expressed interest in the player, along with an unnamed South African club. While several Kenyan teams, including Gor Mahia, Kenya Police, and Tusker, had previously shown interest, they were reportedly put off by the high transfer fee.
Shumah was close to moving last season, but a deal failed to materialize. That proved to be a blessing in disguise for Homeboyz, as the forward rediscovered his form under coach Francis Baraza, playing a central role in the club’s third-place league finish.
With regional interest growing, Kakamega Homeboyz are now facing a critical transfer window. If any of the foreign clubs meet the Ksh15 million valuation, the striker could be on his way out. For now, however, the ball is firmly in the court of those chasing his signature.
The next few weeks could prove decisive in shaping the future of one of Kenya’s most promising football talents. Whether he moves abroad or stays for another season, Moses Shumah has certainly proven that he is a striker in high demand.
