Ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), both Kasarani Stadium and the upcoming Talanta Sports City will feature hybrid grass playing surfaces. This decision comes as part of Kenya’s preparations for hosting the prestigious tournament, co-hosted with Uganda and Tanzania.
Kasarani Stadium, which previously hosted matches during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), currently has Bermuda grass. However, it will undergo a significant upgrade to install a hybrid grass surface, tailored for the demands of AFCON.
