Officials from the Kenya Federation of American Football (KFAF) participated in a leadership and governance training session organized by the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK). The event brought together representatives from various emerging and aspiring Olympic sports federations, with the goal of strengthening sports leadership and promoting administrative excellence across the Kenyan sporting landscape.
The training, held on Thursday, focused on several critical themes aimed at building sustainable leadership structures within sports organizations. Participants engaged in discussions on topics such as Athletes at the Heart of the Movement, The Games, and Principles of Structure and Leadership within the Olympic Movement. These sessions were designed to provide federations with the tools and knowledge needed to manage their operations effectively and align with international sports governance standards.
For KFAF, the event marked an important step toward enhancing the management and development of American football in Kenya. The federation highlighted that the training provided invaluable insights into leadership, organizational management, and strategic planning—key components that will help American football grow in popularity and professionalism within the country.
In a statement, KFAF noted that the training was a vital opportunity to build capacity, strengthen administrative processes, and align with global best practices. The federation emphasized its commitment to nurturing competent leadership that prioritizes athletes’ welfare, transparency, and accountability. Such capacity-building initiatives, it added, are essential for developing a solid foundation for the sport’s long-term success in Kenya.
The federation also expressed its appreciation to NOCK for its ongoing efforts to empower sports bodies through training and mentorship programs. By creating platforms where federations can exchange ideas and learn from one another, NOCK continues to play a pivotal role in fostering unity and professionalism in Kenyan sports administration.
The KFAF delegation that attended the training included Vice President Ondeng, Secretary General Shisoka, Treasurer Muchiti, and Female Athletes Representative Bridgit Kamamia. Their participation underscored the federation’s commitment to inclusivity and gender representation in sports leadership.
Through initiatives like this, KFAF aims to strengthen its governance structure, support athlete development, and position American football as a competitive and well-managed sport both locally and internationally.
