Lewis Hamilton has described his first season with Ferrari as a “nightmare” following another frustrating weekend at the São Paulo Grand Prix. The seven-time Formula 1 champion retired from the race on lap 37 after a series of setbacks that left him struggling to make an impact in his debut year with the Scuderia.
Hamilton’s weekend got off to a difficult start as he qualified 13th. Early in the race, he was clipped by Carlos Sainz, and a misjudged overtake attempt on Franco Colapinto caused floor damage to his car, ultimately forcing him to retire. The result leaves Hamilton sixth in the championship, 66 points behind teammate Charles Leclerc, and still without a podium finish in his first season with Ferrari.
“It’s a nightmare,” Hamilton said, reflecting on the contrast between the excitement of joining Ferrari and the disappointing results he has faced. “We are really having to fight through these hardships at the moment. This weekend has been disastrous and disappointing for everyone. I am trying to keep my head above water and remain positive.”
Despite the setbacks, Hamilton remains committed to Ferrari and optimistic about the future. “I believe there is something extraordinary up ahead in my life and in my destiny,” he said. “I truly still believe in this team and what we can achieve together. I just have to keep pushing and keep giving them everything I can.”
Meanwhile, Lando Norris secured a thrilling victory at Interlagos, extending his lead over McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri in the championship. The win marked a statement performance for Norris, who emphasized the importance of focusing on his own goals amid the media scrutiny surrounding the title fight. “Just ignore everyone that talks crap about you and focus on yourself,” he said, reflecting on his approach since regaining the lead in the championship.
Norris also addressed the criticism and booing he faced during the season, saying he has learned to block out distractions and remain focused on his own performance. Both drivers now turn their attention to the final three races of the season, with Hamilton determined to rebound and Norris aiming to close out his first championship.
