Lewis Hamilton is determined to rediscover his passion for racing and turn around a difficult first season with Ferrari. The seven-time world champion has endured a frustrating campaign so far, but insists he is motivated to enjoy the sport again and fight for better results in the remaining races.
Hamilton, now 40, admitted that the first half of the season has been far from smooth. He has yet to score a podium this year and currently sits sixth in the drivers’ championship. The transition to Ferrari, after more than a decade with Mercedes, has proved challenging both on and off the track. Despite the difficulties, Hamilton is embracing the chance to reset and approach the final ten races with renewed energy.
He explained that the pressure of expectation had clouded his enjoyment of driving, something he wants to put behind him. For Hamilton, the key is returning to the reason he began racing in the first place – fun. “If you’re not enjoying what you’re doing, then why are you doing it?” he reflected recently, stressing that the team needed to focus on unity, improvement, and enjoyment.
Hamilton’s frustrations were evident before the summer break, particularly in Hungary, where he qualified in 12th and described the result as “absolutely useless.” After the race, he hinted at problems within the team but has since chosen to adopt a more positive mindset. The break allowed him to switch off, reset, and come back determined to tackle the challenges with fresh motivation.
He recognises that success has never come easily, even during his dominant years. Hamilton recalled that his career has always included difficult phases, and he views the current struggles as part of the journey. Rather than feeling discouraged, he believes these challenges will strengthen both himself and Ferrari.
Hamilton remains confident in the team’s potential and committed to building a successful future with them. He emphasised that no one achieves greatness without going through tough times, and he welcomes the opportunity to prove himself once again. For him, this season is less about immediate success and more about laying foundations for long-term progress with the team he has always dreamed of racing for.
As Formula One heads into its decisive final stretch, Hamilton is eager to push forward, rediscover joy in competition, and show that his Ferrari chapter can still become a story of triumph.
