A 50-year-old man tragically lost his life after collapsing in the toilet shortly after arriving at his home in Limuru Town, Kiambu County.
The deceased, identified as Paul Kimani Karanja, had reportedly travelled to Kitui to seek spiritual intervention due to challenges in his butchery business. Upon returning home on Friday night, he informed his wife about his trip before excusing himself to go to the toilet.
Moments later, Karanja collapsed and died. His body remained in the toilet for several hours before it was discovered. Shocked family members and neighbours quickly alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and moved the body to the mortuary.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of death. A postmortem examination is expected to provide clarity on what may have led to the sudden tragedy. Authorities also plan to visit the church where the man had attended prayer sessions as part of their probe, with the aim of ruling out any suspicious circumstances or possible occult-related activities.
Elsewhere in Tana River County, another tragedy unfolded when a decomposed body was recovered at the Indian Ocean near Ozi Beach in Kipini. Police confirmed that the remains belonged to Joseph Raphael Kazungu, a fisherman who had been reported missing. A black tag was tied around his neck at the time of discovery.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Kazungu may have drowned after a fishing boat capsized in the area. Another fisherman who was with him during the incident is still missing as the search operation continues.
In a separate incident in Mikuini, Machakos County, the body of 32-year-old Musembi Mutinda was discovered lying in a pool of blood near a bar. Mutinda had reportedly been at the establishment earlier before being attacked. Police suspect foul play and have launched investigations into the murder, though the motive remains unclear. His body was also transferred to the mortuary pending autopsy results.
These three unrelated incidents highlight the rising cases of sudden deaths and unexplained tragedies across the country, leaving families devastated and authorities with difficult investigations to pursue.
