The Menengai Oilers are set for an early showdown with defending champions Kabras Sugar after the two sides were drawn together in Pool C of the 2025 Christie Sevens.
The 59th edition of the Christie 7s will take place at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi from 16–17 August, hosted by Kenya Harlequin. As the third leg of the 2025 National Sevens Circuit, the tournament promises two days of high-octane rugby action combined with vibrant off-pitch entertainment, as teams chase vital points in the series standings.
Division One: Heavyweights and Tight Battles
The pool draw, conducted during the Prinsloo 7s, has set up intriguing clashes in the top division. Pool A features Strathmore Leos, who will battle hosts Kenya Harlequin, Zetech Oaks, and MSC Rugby. Pool B sees Catholic Monks drawn alongside Nakuru RFC, Impala RFC, and MMUST in another competitive grouping.
The headline clash comes in Pool C, where Menengai Oilers and Kabras Sugar will renew their rivalry. They will also face Daystar Falcons and Uganda’s Ruga Ruga Select, adding an international flavor to the group. Pool D pairs KCB Rugby with Mwamba RFC, Nondescripts, and university side KU Blak Blad in what promises to be another fiercely contested bracket.
Division Two: Widening the Net
The second division will bring together 20 teams, split into five pools of four. Places have been awarded to affiliate clubs, Nairobi-based teams, performance-based qualifiers, and other regional representatives.

- Pool B: Homeboyz RFC, Kabarak University, TUM Marines, Stormers RFC
- Pool C: AP Warriors, Stallions Rugby, Sigalagala Polytechnic, Cooperative University
- Pool D: Embu RFC, Kiambu Rugby, Northern Suburbs, Eagles Rugby
- Pool E: South Coast Pirates, Ngong Warriors, NYS Spades, Rongai Morans
Women’s Category: Two Tiers, Double the Action
The women’s competition will be split into two tiers. Tier One (Pool A) features Mwamba RFC, Kenya Harlequin, Northern Suburbs, and Impala RFC. Tier Two (Pool B) includes NYS Ladies, Ruck It Rugby, Meru Ladies, and Rongo University.
Both tiers will have three pool matches before progressing to semi-finals and finals to crown the champions in each category, ensuring fans enjoy a full weekend of rugby drama.
