Menengai Oilers successfully retained their 2025 Impala Floodlit title, defeating Nondescripts 32-20 in a competitive final. From the outset, the Oilers signaled their intent, with captain Ibrahim Ayoo crossing the line in just the fourth minute. Nondies responded but missed an early penalty opportunity. Chrispine Shitundo extended the Oilers’ lead with a converted try, and although Ryan Odrua kept Nondies in the contest with two tries, the champions’ forwards proved too powerful, with Aturo adding his second try following a well-executed maul. Omela’s conversion brought the score to 24-10, while a late penalty from Odhiambo kept Nondies within reach at halftime.
The second half saw Nondies briefly close the gap to 24-20 through Lamec Ambetsa’s try, but Beldad Ogeta’s blistering 40-metre solo run restored the Oilers’ comfort zone. A final penalty sealed the 32-20 victory, marking the Oilers’ second consecutive Impala Floodlit championship.
In the varsity category, JKUAT Cougars claimed the 2025 Impala Floodlit Varsity title with a 31-23 win over USIU Martials. JKUAT took an early lead through a penalty by coach and former KCB flyhalf Smith Muhoya. After a back-and-forth first half, Karl Omito’s try and Muhoya’s conversion put the Cougars ahead. The second half saw strong performances from Mwangi Bonnke and Muhoya, whose penalties and conversions extended JKUAT’s lead despite USIU’s late surge, ultimately securing the 31-23 win.
Mwamba RFC Ladies also retained their crown, overpowering Impala Roans 44-11 in the women’s final. Mwamba dominated early, leading 17-3 at halftime through three tries and a conversion. The second half saw the champions add 27 points while conceding only eight, demonstrating their superiority and solidifying their status as Kenya’s top women’s rugby side.
KCB Rugby claimed the Plate with a dominant 47-12 win over Strathmore Leos in the fifth-place playoff. KCB’s early dominance through tries from Samuel Asati, Tyson Maina, and others ensured a comfortable lead, which they maintained despite Strathmore’s efforts.
Blak Blad secured third place after a thrilling 21-19 victory over Impala. The tightly contested match saw momentum shift multiple times, with Blak Blad capitalizing on Impala errors and strong kicking from Enock Oduor to edge past the hosts and claim the final podium spot.
The 2025 Impala Floodlit tournament showcased high-quality rugby across men’s, women’s, and varsity competitions, highlighting the depth of talent and competitive spirit in Kenyan rugby.
