FKF Cup champions Nairobi United have been placed in Pot Four ahead of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup group stage draw, which will take place on Monday, November 3, 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa. The draw will be conducted at the SuperSport studios and broadcast live across Africa, marking one of the most anticipated moments in the continental football calendar.
The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that the Confederation Cup draw will begin at 2pm East Africa time, followed by the CAF Champions League draw an hour later. Sixteen elite teams will learn their group-stage opponents as the competition enters its most exciting phase.
Nairobi United, who are making their debut in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, find themselves in Pot 4 alongside Azam FC of Tanzania, ZESCO United of Zambia, San Pedro of Ivory Coast, and Singida Black Stars from Tanzania. This means the Kenyan club will be drawn against some of the continent’s most established teams.
Pot 1 is stacked with continental heavyweights including Zamalek SC (Egypt), Wydad AC (Morocco), CR Belouizdad (Algeria), and USM Alger (Algeria). Pot 2 features strong sides such as Al Masry (Egypt), Stellenbosch FC (South Africa), Djoliba (Mali), and AS Maniema (DR Congo), while Pot 3 includes Kaizer Chiefs (South Africa), Otoho d’Oyo (Congo), and Olympique de Safi (Morocco).
The final list of 16 clubs confirmed for the group stages includes Nairobi United, Azam FC, ZESCO United, San Pedro, Singida Black Stars, Zamalek SC, Wydad AC, CR Belouizdad, USM Alger, Al Masry, AS Maniema, Djoliba, Otoho d’Oyo, Kaizer Chiefs, Stellenbosch FC, and Olympique de Safi. The teams will be divided into four groups of four, with each team playing six matches — home and away. The top two from each group will progress to the quarterfinals.
Nairobi United’s journey to this stage has been remarkable. The club eliminated Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel in a tense playoff round, winning 7–6 on penalties after a 2–2 aggregate draw. They had carried a 2–0 first-leg advantage from Nairobi before the Tunisians equalized late in the return leg. Despite the pressure, the Nai Boys held their nerve to reach the group stage on their maiden appearance.
Their continental campaign began with a dramatic victory over Uganda’s NEC FC on away goals in the preliminary round. Having won the FKF Cup and secured promotion to the Kenyan Premier League, Nairobi United’s rise has been swift and inspiring. The team now faces its biggest test yet as it prepares to challenge Africa’s finest in the group stage.
