The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has reaffirmed its longstanding partnership with global sportswear giant Nike as the country prepares for major global events, including the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
A strategic consultative meeting was recently held at the NOC-K headquarters between the new NOCK leadership and Nike’s representative in Kenya. The high-level discussions confirmed Nike’s continued role as Team Kenya’s official kit sponsor, further strengthening a partnership that began in 1993.
Leading the NOCK delegation were President Shadrack Maluki, 1st Vice President Barnaba Korir, and Secretary General John Ogolla. Together with Nike, they reiterated their commitment to enhancing the visibility and success of Kenyan athletes on the global stage. The renewed focus of the collaboration will include identifying new avenues to support athletes, respond to evolving sports demands, and expand developmental programs.
Nike’s involvement with Team Kenya has gone beyond the provision of uniforms. The partnership has been pivotal in nurturing young talent, launching athlete development programs, and supporting iconic individual campaigns. Notable successes under this alliance include Eliud Kipchoge’s historic sub-two-hour marathon and Faith Kipyegon’s record-breaking performances under Nike’s Breaking4 initiative.
The new Olympic cycle offers a renewed opportunity for innovation and impact, especially in building capacity for young and upcoming athletes. Both parties emphasized the importance of aligning their goals with the dynamic needs of Kenyan sports, ensuring that athletes receive world-class support and exposure.
NOC-K’s leadership praised the role Nike has played over the decades in helping Kenyan athletes thrive, stating that the journey with the brand has greatly elevated the country’s global sports reputation. The partnership has become a symbol of pride, unity, and ambition within Kenya’s sports community.
The presence of Nike’s local representative during key events such as the recent NOCK elections and the Tokyo World Championship trials highlighted the brand’s deep-rooted commitment to the country’s sporting future.
As preparations intensify for Dakar 2026 and LA 2028, this enduring partnership is expected to remain a cornerstone of Team Kenya’s pursuit of excellence on the international stage.
