Adrien Rabiot’s future at Marseille has been thrown into uncertainty after the French midfielder was told to find a new club alongside teammate Jonathan Rowe following a physical altercation. The fallout has sparked a fierce reaction from his mother and agent, Veronique Rabiot, who has accused the club’s leadership of incompetence and of deliberately pushing her son out.
Veronique dismissed the severity of the clash, insisting it had been exaggerated to serve hidden agendas within the club. According to her, the incident has been blown out of proportion, with fabricated claims of extreme violence when in reality no one sustained injuries. She argued that a simple dressing room disagreement should never have led to a player of Rabiot’s caliber being sidelined.
Her strongest criticism was reserved for club president Pablo Longoria and sporting director Medhi Benatia. She described them as leaders out of their depth, claiming they lack the authority and emotional control to handle the demands of a major club like Marseille. In her view, their pride and egos have taken precedence over sound judgment, destabilising the squad in the process.
Veronique went further, suggesting the altercation was being used as a convenient excuse to force her son out of the team. She argued that the management’s narrative has grown more exaggerated with each passing day, pointing to an underlying desire to move Rabiot on regardless of the truth. This, she said, represents a betrayal of Adrien’s commitment and professionalism.
She also admitted she had initial reservations about her son joining Marseille, revealing that she warned against the move when first contacted by the club. Despite believing they had seen the worst of internal politics during Rabiot’s time at PSG, she feels Marseille has proven equally chaotic, if not worse.
Despite her anger towards the management, Veronique expressed genuine sadness for the fans. She acknowledged the affection and support her son had received since joining the club, noting that Marseille supporters embraced him like nowhere else in his career. For them, she believes the situation is unfair and unnecessarily damaging.
The controversy now leaves Adrien Rabiot facing another uncertain chapter in his career. With his relationship with Marseille fractured, speculation is mounting over where the World Cup finalist will play next
