The Par 72 Railways Golf Club is preparing to host more than 200 golfers this Saturday for the 18th leg of the 2025 KCB East Africa Golf Tour. Following a thrilling showdown in Sigona last weekend, the competition will tee off early at 6:30 am for the morning round, with an afternoon session starting at noon.
Organizers expect a large turnout, citing the tour’s growing popularity among players of all skill levels. The Railways course has been carefully maintained, promising a challenging yet rewarding experience for participants.
The KCB East Africa Golf Tour has made a significant impact since its launch, attracting over 2,000 golfers from across the region and involving more than 1,000 juniors through parallel golf clinics. These clinics have been instrumental in nurturing the next generation of golfers while promoting the sport in local communities.
In Kenya, the 2025 tour has so far visited 10 counties, including Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Laikipia, Nandi, Mombasa, Kisii, Kiambu, Machakos, and Kericho. The event has also expanded beyond Kenya’s borders, with Uganda and Burundi already hosting their rounds, and Tanzania and Rwanda scheduled to join before the series concludes.
Over the past 20 years, KCB has invested more than KSh 800 million in golf competitions aimed at driving socio-economic transformation, fostering inclusivity, and strengthening regional unity. The 2025 edition continues this tradition, offering opportunities for skill development and community engagement.
The grand finale is set for December 5, where the winning club will receive KSh 1 million to fund a sustainability initiative. Additionally, the victorious four-ball team will earn sponsorship to participate in a prestigious golf tournament, giving them a chance to compete at a higher level.
Sustainability remains a key focus of the tour. In line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, tree planting has been incorporated into every stop of the series. So far, over 3,000 trees have been planted across participating golf clubs, reflecting the organizers’ commitment to climate action and environmental preservation.
As the Railways Golf Club readies for this weekend’s challenge, anticipation is building among players and fans alike. The leg promises not only competitive golf but also the continued growth of the sport and its positive impact on communities across East Africa.
