Harambee Stars striker Ryan Ogam made his much-anticipated debut for Wolfsberger AC as the Austrian Bundesliga side secured an impressive 3-1 victory over Grazer AK at the Merkur Arena.
The 20-year-old forward was introduced in the 75th minute, marking his first competitive appearance since joining Wolfsberger AC in late September. His new side displayed dominance and composure throughout the match, climbing to second place in the Austrian Bundesliga standings with 17 points from nine matches. Rapid Wien lead the table on goal difference, having played one game fewer.
The visitors got off to a strong start when Markus Pink opened the scoring in the 19th minute. However, Grazer AK found an equaliser just before halftime through Daniel Maderner, sending both teams level into the break. After halftime, Wolfsberger AC made tactical adjustments that quickly paid off, with Alessandro Schöpf restoring their lead in the 62nd minute following sustained attacking pressure.
Ogam’s introduction came in the 75th minute, as he replaced Ukic in a double substitution aimed at injecting fresh energy into the attack. His movement and positioning showed flashes of promise, as he looked eager to make an impression on his debut. The game was ultimately sealed when Donis Avdijaj scored Wolfsberger’s third goal in the 90th minute, securing a commanding 3-1 victory.
Ogam joined Wolfsberger AC on September 3, 2025, after completing a move from Tusker FC, where he had enjoyed a breakthrough season in the FKF Premier League. Initially converted from a defensive midfielder to a striker, the young Kenyan quickly adapted to his new role, scoring 15 goals in 17 appearances for the Brewers. His clinical finishing and tactical awareness caught the attention of European scouts, culminating in his transfer to Austria.
The striker’s rise was further accelerated by his standout performances for Harambee Stars during the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), where he scored a memorable winning goal against Morocco to help Kenya reach the quarterfinals. That performance, along with his consistent displays, drew comparisons to national team captain Michael Olunga.
Wolfsberger AC’s management has expressed confidence in Ogam’s potential, describing him as an investment in the club’s long-term attacking strength. Having signed a contract running until June 30, 2028, the young forward now faces the exciting challenge of proving himself in European football and continuing Kenya’s growing influence on the international stage.
