Gor Mahia Vice President, Sally Bolo, has firmly responded to allegations surrounding her involvement in Alphonse Omija’s transfer to the Tunisian club, Etoile Sportive du Sahel (ES Sahel). The transfer, which took place after Omija’s impressive performance during the African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024), sparked questions from fans, particularly regarding the transparency of the process and the role Bolo played in it.
Omija, who featured for the Harambee Stars in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, made the move to ES Sahel amid growing curiosity about the details of the deal. The lack of clear information regarding the transfer fee led some fans to speculate that Gor Mahia’s management, including Bolo, may have been involved in questionable practices. Concerns were raised about the potential conflict of interest, especially given that Bolo is allegedly linked to Salient Sports Management, the agency representing Omija.
In her response, Bolo sought to clarify the situation. She stressed that while she has been aware of the ongoing discussions, she did not initiate Omija’s move to Tunisia, nor was she directly involved in any negotiations related to the transfer. She explained that Gor Mahia’s executive committee had been presented with an offer from ES Sahel, which was thoroughly discussed and approved by the club’s management.
Bolo further emphasized that Salient Sports Management, through its FIFA-licensed agents, negotiated the transfer after both clubs had agreed on the terms of the move. She reiterated that the transfer was entirely legitimate and in full compliance with FIFA’s rules and regulations. “The transfer was above board and was duly signed off by Gor Mahia’s executive committee,” Bolo stated. “I did not sell the player, nor did I initiate the transfer as some have suggested.”
Despite these clarifications, some fans remain skeptical about the transparency of the transfer process. However, Bolo’s statement aims to put to rest any further questions about her involvement and the integrity of the transaction.
Omija has already made his debut for ES Sahel, playing as a central defender in their 1-1 draw. He will be eager to secure his place in the starting lineup for the upcoming matches as he looks to further his career in Tunisian football.
