The curtain will fall on the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) PAMOJA 2024 in spectacular fashion, as three of East Africa’s biggest stars Savara, Eddy Kenzo, and Zuchu take the stage at the Closing Ceremony. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 30, at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, starting at 2:00 PM, just hours before the eagerly anticipated final.
Kenya’s own Savara Mudigi, a celebrated artist and founding member of the globally acclaimed Sauti Sol, will lead the show. His performance carries special weight for Kenyan fans, as he embodies the country’s musical pride on a continental stage. Joining him will be Uganda’s Grammy-nominated sensation Eddy Kenzo, known for his electrifying stage presence, and Tanzania’s hitmaker Zuchu, one of the fastest-rising voices in African music. Together, they promise a performance that blends rhythm, culture, and unity perfectly capturing the spirit of PAMOJA 2024.
The cultural showcase will reflect the shared heritage of the three co-host nations Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. With music, dance, and spectacle, the ceremony is expected to be a highlight of the tournament, cementing East Africa’s reputation as a hub of creativity and talent.
After the performances, the football spotlight shifts to the grand finale at 6:00 PM. Defending champions Morocco will face off against Madagascar in what is set to be a thrilling contest. Morocco, already boasting two CHAN titles, are eyeing a record third crown, while debut finalists Madagascar are aiming to complete a fairytale journey by clinching their first-ever continental title. The Malagasy side stunned Sudan 1-0 in the semifinal, while Morocco overcame Senegal in a tense penalty shootout.
The event will also draw an impressive lineup of dignitaries. Among those expected are FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Kenya’s President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, and FKF President Hussein Mohammed. Adding to the international flavor, Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina is also set to attend.
